New Model WTO Program at McGill

This is from some enterprising students at McGill University who are setting up a Model WTO program:

My name is Sumayya Kheireddine, and together with my co-president Randa Omar, we are two law students at McGill University. Inspired by our experience at the Model World Trade Organization simulation in Switzerland, we are thrilled to launch the inaugural McGill Model WTO 2026, bringing this unique opportunity to our campus and to students across North America and beyond.

The simulation will span three days of negotiations, preceded by strategic briefings from the permanent missions of the countries represented. Eight McGill Law students will serve as chairs, preparing guiding papers to ensure delegates are well-informed and that discussions are both meaningful and productive. The chairs will also assist their committees in drafting resolutions. During the second leg of the conference, which will take place in Ottawa, the Canadian capital, these resolutions will be reviewed by WTO staff and delegates will have the opportunity to receive live feedback and ask questions. Delegates will also have the opportunity to visit the embassies of the countries they represent. The conference will conclude with a closing gala featuring a keynote speaker and an awards ceremony.

We are committed to fostering a diverse and dynamic delegate pool, and we would greatly appreciate your support in sharing this opportunity with your students.

If you have any questions, we’d be more than happy to answer them. We’ve attached a poster for distribution and a more-thorough participation package with all the details a participant may need.
