Judicial Conference for U.S. Trade Law To be Held on November 18, 2019 in DC

The United States Court of International Trade has just announced the agenda for its 20th Judicial Conference to be held on November 18, 2019 in Washington, DC. The judicial conference is an important event for the practice of U.S. trade law. It's not an annual conference. Rather, the Conference is held only about once every four years and this year is being held in Washington, DC at the historic Mayflower Hotel.
This year's conference will be looking at the new developments in U.S. trade law during the past few years. Among the topics to be examined are: the collateral effects of new tariffs imposed under Sections 232 and Section 301; the implementation of rules of origin; the administration of antidumping and countervailing duties, the new issues arising within the statutory jurisdiction of the U.S. Court of International Trade, new trends in the cooperation of federal trade and customs agencies, and mediation of trade disputes. The Conference will begin with a plenary panel of senior trade policy officials from three key U.S. government agencies -- the U.S. International Trade Commission, the Commerce Department, and the US Customs and Border Protection agency. At mid-day, the Conference will host a lunch with a special presentation by Podcaster stars Soumaya Keynes and Chad Bown. In the afternoon, the Conference will feature a discussion with a panel of Judges from the Court. The Conference will close with a reception.
Although many of the participants will be trade law practitioners, the advent of the Conference provides an excellent opportunity for other interested individuals to participate and attend from companies, international organizations, state and local agencies, nongovernmental organizations, law firms, research institutes, universities, embassies, and the media.
