From the Austrian Times:
Egg imports are set to jump this Easter in Austria on the back of falling supply and growing demand, producers have said.
Imports of eggs from Germany and the Netherlands are expected to rise by 25 per cent as Austrians will reportedly buy 50 million Easter eggs this year - 10-to-12 per cent more than last year.
Each Austrian will eat between six and seven Easter eggs on average.
Franz Schrall, an egg producer in Tulln, Lower Austria and head of the poultry-producers association, said today (Mon) lower supply and higher demand meant millions of eggs would have to be imported.
