I'm not sure yet what to make of this surefire box office hit. Should I let my students watch it? Are they mature enough?
I actually like Woody Harrelson (not to mention Charlize Theron). With all due respect to both, I like the other Woody much, much more. And graphically posing the "Battle in Seattle" as a replay, say, of the Ludlow Massacre seems crass and indeed harmful to the cause. Any cause, that is. No wonder the French aren't crazy about Hollywood. But wait, scratch that, it is a sort of LA-Canadian-European coproduction. I guess I'll have to actually watch it to see what they are saying.
