For those of you despairing about your choices in the U.S. Presidential election, you are in luck, there's now a credible third party option: The Libertarians.
OK, you can stop laughing now, because this time they have a former two term governor as the Presidential nominee (Gary Johnson of New Mexico) and a former two term governor as the Vice Presidential nominee (Bill Weld of Massachusetts).
So what do these two think of trade and trade agreements? Well, you can't really be a libertarian without supporting free trade, but there are some nuances there, of course. In this video, Gary Johnson seemed to worry that trade agreements were too heavily influenced by corporate interests (see 23:35-25:00). By contrast, Bill Weld was the co-author of a CFR piece that was pro-North American integration.
Given how big a campaign issue trade has been so far, I suspect they will develop these views a bit more fully in the coming months.
