As we await the TPP conclusion, not to mention the inevitable Donald Trump position paper on trade policy (I'm setting the over/under at 20 WTO violations -- place your bets!), there are some interesting WTO disputes going on.
First, there is the COOL retaliation litigation. Canada asked for $2.41 billion in retaliation; the U.S. has countered with $43.22 million. The U.S. written submission is here. Mexico wants $713 million; the U.S. countered with $47.55 million. That U.S. submission is here. The hearing in this dispute is Sep 15-16, and is open to the public.
There is also the Tuna Article 21.5 appeal. The Appellate Body has announced that the report will be circulated Nov 20. The U.S. submissions in that case are here.
