The Mandela Institute is a leading university Centre concerned with research and capacity building in the area of global economic law. It also runs the programme of continuing legal education of the Wits School of Law. The research and teaching thrusts of the Mandela Institute are dynamic, have an African focus, and currently include International Trade, International Investment, Competition Law, International Business Transactions, Corporate Law, Environmental Law, Natural Resources (including Mining) Law, Financial Services Law (including Banking and Pensions), Intellectual Property Law and Information Law (including Privacy).
Applications are sought for the position of Director. The Director heads the Mandela Institute and reports to the Head of the School of Law. The successful candidate will offer intellectual leadership,a vision for the MI, managerial competence, a demonstrated ability to relate to donors, raise funds and have the stature to represent the MI both within the University and in the outside world. The Director will occupy an endowed chair, the Issy Wolfson Chair of Law.
