Well, this blog is about international economic law, so I am a bit conflicted about mentioning this. On the other hand, it is a good international law story, and the arguments regarding the President's authority in the U.S. have important implications for U.S. foreign relations law in the economic area. That is, does the claim of extensive commander in chief power affect our understanding of the President's role in international economic relations?
So, with that apology, check out the Newsweek story about Jack Goldsmith's time in the Justice Department. It is a good story about the difficulty of being an insider, and of judging insiders.
